Triphosphor
Triphosphor is a modern type of coating used in flourescent
lamps
Three phosphors are used in the coating
Most new fluorescent lamps are triphosphor lamps.
Compared to the older type halophosphate lamps
,
advantages include :
- Increased light levels
- Extended lamp life
- Reduced maintenance and energy costs
- Improved colour rendering (triphosphor lamps do not
distort colours as badly as halophosphate lamps)
Lamps come in different colour temperatures :
827 "Warm white", orange colour, similar to old style incandescent
lamps
835 "White", similar to the whitest halogen lamps
841 "Cool white", the colour of average sunlight
850 "Sunlight" white like tropical sunlight at noon
865 "Cool daylight" slightly bluish white
880 "Skywhite"
